Diane Matthews, CPA Ph D Takes Sabbatical As Dean of Carlow University Accounting Program To Intern With the Nottingham Group, LLC

Diane Matthews, who has been the long time dean of the accounting School at Carlow and who is responsible for implementing a forensic accounting major at the school has taken a sabbatical from her work at Carlow to gain some "hands on" forensic accounting experience. To accomplish this goal, Diane is splitting her time between the Allegheny County District Attorney's Office White Collar Crime Unit and The Nottingham Group, LLC. We are excited to have Diane on staff and the new insight that she provides.
Colleen Meinert Joins the Nottingham Group As a Forensic Accounting Intern

Colleen Meinert, a senior accounting major at Robert Morris University has joined the team of the Nottingham Group, LLC as a forensic accounting intern. Colleen, who has interned with other accounting and financial planning firms, has always had an interest in fraud investigation and forensic accounting techniques. James Fellin is Featured Speaker at the Pennsylvania Association of Boroughs Legal Conference In Harrisburg, PA

On August 21, 2008, James Fellin presented to municipal solicitors from all over the State of Pennsylvania. The topic of his speech was "Conducting Forensic Audits at Municipalities". The Conference was held by the PA Assn of Boroughs and featured a full day of speakers on various legal topics.
Nottingham Group Appointed As Special Examiner In a Bankruptcy Matter In Erie, PA

The Nottingham Group LLC was appointed by the United States Bankruptcy Court to serve as Examiner in a Chapter 11 bankruptcy matter. The engagement involved conducting an investigation to determine the existence and value of certain assets of the Debtor, as well as an evaluation of the Debtors Amended Plan of Reorganization.
Nottingham Group Bids Farewell to Jennifer Ziemianski

It is with great regret that the Nottingham Group bids its long time intern good-bye. Jennifer, had interned with the firm since 2007. She graduated in May 2008 and in August, began working is the position that she had previously accepted with a Big Four accounting firm. Jennifer was a very valuable team member and contributed greatly to our client work. Obviously our loss is their gain and we wish Jennifer the best in her endeavors with her new firm.
Jacqueline Weibel Joins the Nottingham Group As a Senior Consultant

The Nottingham Group, LLC is pleased to announce that it has hired Jacqueline Weibel as a Senior Consultant in the firm. Jackie has a BS degree in forensic accounting and has passed all parts of the examination for the designation of Certified Fraud Examiner. She is currently fulfilling her experience requirements to become certified. We are looking forward to Jackie becoming an integral part of the Nottingham Group LLC professional staff.
James Fellin, CPA CFE is Re-elected As President of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners

James Fellin CPA CFE has been re-elected as the President of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the ACFE. The chapter, which now boasts over 75 members, is the local chapter of the national organization which is dedicated to preventing and detecting fraud. As President, Jim would like to increase awareness and membership in the Chapter and also bring in some high-profile speakers who can share some insight on the fight against fraud and abuse.
Nottingham Group Retained by Dauphin County Board of Commissioners to Investigate Allegedly Fraudulent Invoices Charged to the County

Karl Jarek, CPA, ABV, CFS was selected by Dauphin County (Pennsylvania) to conduct an investigation of allegedly fraudulent invoices from a vendor to the County. Based largely on the work of The Nottingham Group, the civil lawsuit regarding the fraud allegations was successfully settled in May 2008. A criminal investigation is ongoing and will continue to assist the District Attorney in that matter.
Nottingham Group Retained to Assisted in the Defense of a $50 Million Director and Officer Liability Claim
December 2007
The Nottingham Group was retained by the CEO and Directors of a publicly-traded corporation based in Cincinnati, OH. We investigated, critiqued and reported on various complex accounting and financial reporting issues raised by the Plaintiffs' expert. Other issues included the analysis of alleged asset misappropriations, conflict of interest and self dealing. Total damage sought against the Defendant CEO and Directors is in excess of $50 million. Expert reports were issued and discovery is now closed. The case is pending trial in early 2009 before the U. S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio in Dayton.
